More About Us:The South African Country Music Artist Foundation
SACMAF – WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO ?
The CMA (Country Music Association) was unofficially established in South Africa in 1987. Since then until the mid 90’s Country Music flourished in S.A, Many artists evolved in and out of the CMA over the years, After the Music Farm closed down, a few shows were organised since then and a double CD was produced to help promote Country Artists. Then there was a dry spell for several years. Over the last years +- 2014 to current. Country Music began to rise up again and the time came for Country Artists and other entities affiliated with Country Music, to once more, receive recognition, assistance and growth in all areas of the business. We will forever be grateful to our Country Legends and Pioneers for making Country Music one of the greatest genres in South Africa.
The South African Country Music Artist Foundation (SACMA) was registered as a NPO (Non-Profit Organization) REG. NO 212-395 NPO on 14 June 2017. As a NPO, it is managed by a Body Corporate and supporting staff. It also utilizes all its funds and sponsorship to run the office, organize events, supporting Country Singers, funding SACMA Awards and yearly festivals and funding Community Outreach Programs. SACMA, is also the ONLY official regulator of Country Music in South Africa, who will strive to regulate and establish an OFFICIAL NATIONAL Country Music Chart, based on mainstream radio plays as received from the radio stations, a separate chart for Digital Radio Stations, and one for digital CD sales. The “SACMAF AWARD” is the OFFICIAL NATIONAL award (as the Ghoemas/SAMA’S, for example, is for the other genres of music), launched in 2018 for ALL SA Country Music Artists and Affiliates. We also have a FACEBOOK Page CLICK HERE to join our online community.
The South African Country Music Artist Foundation also works in close proximity with RISA, POSA, SAMRO AND CAPASSO, to protect, guide and educate our artists. We will also uphold the National and International standards of Artists Criteria (Legends, Superstars, Stars, and Rising Stars which is the New Generation) singers as understood worldwide on what qualifies an artist to be nominated and granted elevated status in the said criteria. The South African Country Music Artist Foundation will protect the integrity of Country Music and uphold ethical values and standards, expecting artists, agents, organizers/organizations, Sound Engineers, Songwriters, Line dancers and other Country Music Affiliates to abide by these guides. These guidelines will apply as set out in our CONSTITUTION.
